Councillor and Chairman
|Dick has spent most of his working life involved in international development as a natural resources and environment adviser – to both the UK and several overseas governments – in long-term postings in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific, and at the Department for International Development in London. He still works part-time as an environmental consultant, specialising in the UK Overseas Territories. He has an honours degree in zoology from Durham University, and is a Chartered Biologist and Member of the Royal Society of Biology, and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He and his wife, Jane, moved to Frensham in 1995 and their two children attended local schools.
Dick was elected as a Parish Councillor in 2011, and has been an active member of all the main committees of the Council since then. He was elected as Vice-Chairman of the Council and Chairman of its Planning, Environment and Highways Committee in May 2015, and Chairman of the Council in May 2016. He represents the Council on the Alice Holt Community Forum and is a member of the South Downs National Park Volunteer Ranger Service (Alice Holt Group). He is also a volunteer in Frensham Village Shop.
